When I participated in a track & field meet in high school, I always went out with the mindset "I can win today!".  My desire for you is that you will be a winner.  In order to win in real life, though, I have discovered that we need the mindset of Jesus Christ.

I want to invite you to come run with us as we seek to love God, love others, serve others, and reach others for God's glory.

Each Sunday at 9:00 a.m., we have small group Bible study classes for all ages followed by our worship service at 10:15 a.m.  I invite you to come experience the difference at Faith Baptist Church.  If you have questions or would like to talk, please feel free to call (636-239-2432).  We will do our very best to minister to you in any way possible.

Running to win...

 CHURCH NEWS FROM THE PASTOR

September 1, 2010

Hello Faith family,

We have four people living in our home and each of us has our own vehicle. Yesterday (Tuesday) morning when I woke up, three of our four vehicles were broken down. Two of them decided to break on Monday evening. Garrett and I were in our garage at 10 PM Monday evening with the brakes on my truck torn apart. I told him, “We can’t fix this tonight, so let’s go to bed and I’ll look at this tomorrow.” Tuesday morning after taking Garrett to work at 6 AM, I returned home to face my dilemma. My first thought was, “I need to get started on this right now.” Then I saw Tina in the living room reading and remembered I hadn’t had my devotion time. I thought about all I needed to do and that there was no way I was going to get it all done. This thought drove me to the conclusion that I needed God’s help. (I know what you’re thinking: shouldn’t a pastor already know this stuff? Good point!) Thankfully I decided to stop and spend time with God together with Tina. Toward the end of our time together, a friend called; after sharing with him what was going on, he prayed with me and offered to help. By the end of the day on Tuesday all four of our vehicles were road worthy again. God provided in ways that didn’t seem possible to me that morning. Psalm 37:5 says, “Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” Oh Lord, help me to trust you more. Amen.

The “Beast Feast” at Memorial Baptist Church went great! About 200 people attended and not only enjoyed a good meal but also heard a powerful message from Pastor Joe. Congratulations to Chuck Pierce and Garrett Whitley who both won trophies in the archery shoot. We had a good number of folks from our church, and I want to thank y’all for coming and bringing friends. The seeds that were planted will not return void.

Congratulations to all those who were promoted in Sunday School last Sunday.  They included:
·        Ava Stone to Toddlers
·        Chamber Gillette to Children I
·        Brittany Branch, Sara Briggs, Kelsey Dotson, & Nate Offard to Youth

Our quarterly business meeting will be Wednesday September 8th, at 6:30 PM.

We are helping with a fundraiser breakfast for The Truth and the Outdoors Expo. The breakfast will be at Miller’s Grill Saturday, September 11th, from 8-10 AM. The breakfast includes French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, orange juice, milk, and coffee and will cost $5 per plate. We still need volunteers to help cook and serve the breakfast on September 11th. Sign up in the foyer.

Faith Family Groups (FFGs) will begin Sunday, September 12th, thru Sunday, October 17th. We will be studying Master Life (A Biblical Process for Growing Disciples). There are four 6-week series in Master Life and we will be going through the first series. This is a great process to work through which helps you to establish a good foundation and mature in Christ. Please sign up to join one of the five groups listed in the foyer. It’s not too late to become a group host; so if you believe God is leading you to host a group, please contact me.

Finally, congratulations to our softball team which took first place in the co-ed league this summer. That’s two years in a row, but who’s counting?

Y’all have a great week,
Pastor Lee
